NEW ORLEANS, LA — Today, the City of New Orleans issued French Quarter traffic and parking instructions and reminders in advance of the week of the Super Bowl.
The primary areas for events during the Super Bowl will be along the Mississippi River, around the Superdome and in the French Quarter. A breakdown of road closures by dates with accompanying maps can be found at http://new.nola.gov/superbowl.
Due to heavy pedestrian traffic, a portion of exterior streets will be closed to most traffic in the French Quarter from 7pm to 7am, Wednesday, January 30 - Monday, February 4, 2013. Only permitted residents, business owners and customers will be allowed to enter the French Quarter during those times. In addition, a portion of interior streets will be closed to all traffic. Only emergency vehicles will be allowed to enter during those times.
Residents, business owners, business employees, and companies making deliveries to businesses in the closure areas looking to gain vehicular access to the area will be required to present a placard that verifies their French Quarter residency or business purpose during this time period. Placards can be obtained by contacting the New Orleans Police Department 8th District at (504)-658-6080 or visiting the 8th District Station in person at 334 Royal Street.
