City Issues Parking Instructions and Traffic Restrictions for the Big Easy Running Festival

NEW ORLEANS – Today, the City of New Orleans issued parking instructions and reminders in advance the Big Easy Big Easy running Festival, taking place Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017. The public is encouraged to be patient and to prepare for heavy vehicular and pedestrian traffic in the specified areas by making transportation arrangements accordingly.

Mayor Landrieu, Aviation Board, 750 Workers Celebrate New Airport Construction Milestone

NEW ORLEANS– Today, Mayor Mitch Landrieu, the New Orleans Aviation Board and local elected officials joined nearly 750 workers as the highest steel beam was placed on the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport’s (MSY) new North Terminal site, marking a major milestone for the $993.7 million project. The “topping out” ceremony is a centuries old tradition marking the installation of the highest part of a structure.

Season Sixteen of NOLA FOR LIFE Midnight Basketball Continues

NEW ORLEANS — On Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017, the City of New Orleans along with the New Orleans Pelicans, Domino’s Pizza, PlayNOLA and DJ Wild Wayne will continue the sixteenth season of NOLA FOR LIFE Midnight Basketball, which provides safe recreational activity, jobs and opportunities in crime hot spots for young people 16 years and older through basketball, mentorship and support.

Traffic Advisory: Intersection of Bourbon St. at Conti St. Reopens, Bienville St. Closes

NEW ORLEANS — Today, the City of New Orleans announced that the Department of Public Works’ construction contractor has re-opened the intersection of Bourbon Street at Conti Street to through traffic. The opening of the Conti Street intersection coincides with the closure of the intersection of Bienville Street at Bourbon Street.

MEDIA ADVISORY: Mayor Landrieu, Aviation Board to Celebrate Airport North Terminal Project Construction Milestone

NEW ORLEANS—Tomorrow, Friday, Nov. 17, 2017, Mayor Mitch Landrieu, local elected officials and the New Orleans Aviation Board (NOAB) will join hundreds of construction workers at the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) North Terminal construction site for a “topping out” celebration as the highest steel beam is placed atop the new structure. To commemorate this major construction milestone, City officials and construction workers will sign the beam before it is set in place

City’s Information Technology and Innovation Department Win Award for Adopt-A-Catch Basin Website

NEW ORLEANS – Today, in celebration of National Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Day, the City of New Orleans’ Information Technology and Innovation (ITI) Department announced that the City’s GIS team won the Special Achievement in GIS Award at the 2017 Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI) International User Conference for the development of the Adopt-A-Catch Basin website.

Mayor Landrieu, New Orleans East Hospital, Celebrate Grand Opening and Naming Dedication Ceremony for the Rhesa & Alden J. McDonald Jr. and Sue Ellen & Joseph C. Canizaro Diabetes Center

NEW ORLEANS – Today, Mayor Mitch Landrieu was joined by New Orleans East Hospital (NOEH) leadership, LCMC Health, the National Diabetes and Obesity Research Institute (NDORI) and the Cleveland Clinic, Methodist Health System Foundation, State and City Officials, and community stakeholders to celebrate the grand opening and dedication of the New Orleans East Hospital Diabetes Center (5620 Read Blvd.). The clinic was opened on National Diabetes Day.
